The Basis for Our Humanitarian Work: "There Won't Be Hungry People in Our City"

Based on many appeals by families in distress, the central Chabad House in Rishon LeTziyon, headed by Rabbi Yitzchak Gruzman, established the Lev hachesed for the distribution of food with the deep understanding that there must be a place to care for food for anyone who lacks it in our city. The aim of the organization is to help needy families in Rishon LeTziyon, mainly with food baskets every week throughout the year and with the distribution of new clothes and shoes twice or three times a year.

Lev hachesed is an apolitical non-profit organization. It was founded in 2001 and since then has aided immigrants and veteran citizens in Rishon LeTziyon, whether they be religious or secular and regardless of origin.
